Shaelyn Hughes Shaelyn
I am proud to be teaching for Carmel Amelia School of dance and am heading into my third year here at this wonderful school. I started dancing at two years of age and haven't stopped. After performing in 'Billy Elliot the Musical' Melbourne season as a child I knew this was the pathway I wanted to follow, as well as teaching people the beliefs and skills that have been passed down to me from many inspiring teachers.

I am now undertaking a diploma of musical theatre and hoping to also hold a diploma in dance teaching and management. I have been teaching since I was 15 years of age. I love teaching as its exciting seeing the growth of people from their very first class, its wonderful to see children reach their goals and come out of their shells in my classes.

I love watching my soloists and groups perform at competitions with passion and confidence. It's encouraging to see students turn up each week excited and enthusiastic ready for my classes. It's a great opportunity to make friends, learn teambuilding skills, performance skills and of course the many principles and abilities that come with performing arts that they will keep forever.

Lucy Brigg Lucy Brigg

I have been a student with the Carmel Amelia School of Dance for 17 years.  My dancing has included the genres, classical, jazz, tap, contemporary and hip-hop. During this time I have completed Cecchetti exams from Grade 1 to Advanced 1. I have performed in the end of year annual concerts, and from the age of seven have participated in troupe and solo competitions.

This year will be my second year of teaching, and will be an opportunity to meet more new faces, something that I am looking forward to. I've always been dedicated, passionate and felt a warmth of belonging throughout my dancing years, with all my teachers encouraging my determination skills, while guiding me through my weaknesses. My wish is to follow in their footsteps and pass on this knowledge into my classes. I love to make my lessons a happy time, where you can meet new friends, while learning new skills through the pleasure that dancing brings.

I have danced with the Expressions Dance Company's performance of Carmen Sweet while they were on tour of Australia in 2015. I also participated in Victorians School Spectacular in 2013 at Hisense Arena.
